BD Loops Loop, Sawcut 6 ft x 20 ft
This is a preformed, saw-cut style vehicle detection loop manufactured by BD Loops Inc. It is designed to be installed in existing concrete or asphalt by cutting a groove, inserting the loop, and sealing it with loop sealant. It is supplied as a 6 ft x 20 ft loop (SKU SC-52-20). Note: this is not a direct burial loop and should not be used in concrete pours, gravel or dirt roads, or under pavers.
The loop detects moving metal objects passing over it, making it suitable for gate and access-control applications as well as garage-door installations, including indoor parking garage applications where the saw-cut depth can be as shallow as 3/4". Stationary metal such as rebar, manhole covers, and metal drains is accounted for by the detector module and will not cause false detections. Detection height is roughly 2/3 the short leg of the loop—for example, a 6 ft short leg provides approximately 48" of detection height.
Factory-formed with a red alignment mark and 45° dog-ear corners to relieve wire stress, the loop is built for reliable installation and long-term performance when sealed and oriented correctly. Always thoroughly test the loop system to confirm it meets your detection needs.
- Preformed 3/16" saw-cut loop for installation in existing concrete or asphalt; not for direct burial
- Loop size: 6 ft x 20 ft (SKU SC-52-20)
- Recommended groove depth of 1 1/4"–1 1/2"; as shallow as 3/4" for indoor parking garage applications
- Use a 3/16" or 1/4" saw-cut blade (backer-rod required for 1/4" or wider cuts)
- Factory red mark and 45° dog-ear corners (5 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 7 3/4") reduce wire stress and aid alignment
- Adjustable fit: excess loop can be taken into the lead-in run, reducing loop size by up to 4 ft—never stretch the loop
- Detects moving metal objects while ignoring stationary metal such as rebar and manhole covers
