The 41C4220A Gear and Sprocket Assembly is the preferred way to "refurbish" your garage door opener as it quickly replaces all of the common wear parts in the opener drive system. This kit includes all of the 41A2817 Drive / Worm Gear kit, and is easier to install because you do not have to disassemble the output shaft assembly - the spur gear is already mounted on the new output shaft. The 41C4220A assembly also includes the worm gear, and a new bushing under the sprocket which is another common wear item. Fits most chain drive openers manufactured since 1984 by: Liftmaster, Chamberlain, Sears Craftsman, Master Mechanic, and some units from Wayne Dalton. Replaces part 41A2827. Do not use for openers with dual sprockets on the output shaft.

Do not use for openers with dual sprockets on the output shaft.
Note: Also fits openers labeled under various names such as: Sears Craftsman, True Value, Master Mechanic, and some units from Wayne Dalton. Liftmaster also "private labeled" openers for regional suppliers and dealers - usually it is very easy to see that it is a Liftmaster opener with a different name on the cover. Compare your parts to the picture above. The Large Gear is 2 3/4" x 1/2" wide, with a 1/2" bore. The worm gear is 1 1/8" OD, and the teeth are 1 1/4" wide (all sizes are approximate).

Perfect fit and replacement.Exactly what was advertised. It was easy to install and get going. About 2hrs. Instructions a bit vague so recommend taking pictures if you don't do a lot of repair type work. Also, vice clamp slider on t-bar to keep chain from moving and getting timing out of sync.

Saved me lots of $$, but...I purchased the replacement gear for a 1995 Liftmaster 41C4220A Gear and Sprocket Assembly. The business transaction went great, the price is fair, and the communication and shipping excellent. My only issue, hence not a perfect 5 star rating, was that there were not replacement screws provided with the gear mechanism and the old original screws from the 1995 Liftmaster did not fit the new (threaded) gear mounting screw holes. I'm not sure it one or the other is metric or different thread sizes, whatever it was, the old screws did not fit the new gear unit and fortunately I was able to use other nuts and bolts in different (non-threaded) holes to mount the new gear unit to the original 1995 Liftmaster housing box. In short, I wish the new gear unit would have been supplied with the new correct machine screws to mount the new unit to the threaded screw slots. Otherwise, the instructions were helpful and everything else went great and this saved me about $175 from having to replace the entire door motor. So with that thought, I am very pleased and intend to order more parts from this company, Preferred Doors.

Did the TrickI have a champion 1/2 horse. I was able to get it going and this kit was a good value to do so. Qualify of item was great and all parts and some extras were there. A couple of things were missing: 1. there was no diagram, only the printed instructions. 2. I had to replace both the worm gear and the main gear as the size appeared to be just different enough that I could not just drop in the new gear ... could be I was wrong as I didn't have a caliper, but it worked and dropped in as soon as I replaced both. 3. the holes in the "mounting plate" were not pre-threaded, I figured out just before I left for the hardware that it would self thread, but nothing made that clear. Overall this was fantastic but a few little tips in the instructions would have made the installation much much easier. Delivery was prompt and as promised. Recommend to others in same situation.

ExcellentThe part was exactly what I needed. I could not buy it locally. The hardest part was removing the bushing. I used a large socket and bolt to remove it. Some one in the reviews was complaining about the part not being threaded. None of them are. A 5/16 socket and drill will fix that. I ordered on Saturday and received it on Monday.

5 Stars all the way.Ordered the part on Saturday and got it on Monday. Fix was easier than expected. Saved over $100. Hardest part was rigging up a bushing remover but a bolt and socket fixed that. Took about an hour. Now I need a 108D36 lens.

Joe's job jabberI only gave this a 4 star review because the 3 mounting holes were not threaded when I received it and the directions made no mention the the screws were self tapping. If the directions would have stated it, it would have been easier to tap the 3 mounting holes in the flange before mounting it on the opener and discovering it was going to be a difficult job tapping those 3 holes. Turned a 5 minute job into a 45 minute job. Otherwise everything worked and fit perfectly and the directions were clear and accurate.

Perfect replacementI was not expecting that I can install the gear myself in such an efficient way. I open the box unlock the old gear clean the dirt. Then put the gear and lock it. Loop the chain on the gear and put the chain joint back. Adjusted the door range and now it work like a brand new lifter. The load sound stops. The price was the lowest among the sellers. I recommend Preferred Doors to everybody without any hesitation.

Fast and Easy fixI was not aware our garage door had frozen to cement floor during an ice storm here in Iowa. When I pushed the remote "open" button I heard the door shake and then snap loose; however it didn't open. I manually opened the garage door and saw a sprocket gear laying on the floor and noticed the drive chain was off the track.
I didn't really know how to fix the opener, but I did some on line research and saw where you could order the complete sprocket assembly for under $30.00, so that is what I did. I removed the broken sprocket assembly (6 bolts total) and simply slid in the new one assembly and put the chain back on the new sprocket and reinstalled the 6 bolts. Had to work on the up/down limit switch setting, but I finally got er done! Probably saved myself a small fortune!!!!!Posted on

Easy to replace the wear out partsThis is more economical way to replace the wear out parts of my 22-year old opener.
