Not for the feint of heart, but will make a spring work for a while longerGetting the ends of the spring into the hole is really really tough. The tool provided is not magic and will not work on its own. I ended up using a big screwdriver and a hammer to make a gap, and then wedged the separator tool into bit by bit. Wear safety gear, take your time, and be careful!

Good for the prosI have my own garage door company and I use this if a spring is broken and I don’t have the same one on the truck to replace it so this will hold the customer over till I can get the new one and they can still use the garage door. If your spring broke in one place, it's likely to be nearly broke in another. So if you're going to use this, you better have a spring replacement plan in effect. But, if that plan involves waiting for a week or so for new door panels to arrive, this is the thing for you.
