In deciding which hoist type to use is pretty much dependent on the size, especially the depth and overall size of the components, which have to be slid onto the jack shaft. Couldn’t find the depth of gearbox, chain hoist, and roller gear till Iordered parts arrived and only then I knew I had ordered the right unit. Roller chain provided with 2000D requires mounting of components to be within one foot distance between center of jack shaft and shaft of chain hoist drive gear center. Which in most cases puts all lift components in 90 degree radius bend area of doors roller track. A 4 foot roller chain would have made for easier installation and access to all parts installation.
Jack staff does not have to be a solid keyed shaft to secure roller shaft gear. Mine was a piece of hollow pipe which I modified by inserting a snug fitting 15 mm socket held in place by Gorilla Glue. Place jack staff roller gear on the jack staff so it is in line with its roller gear driver on chain hoist. I then inserted a piece of thin wall pipe into one the two roller gear securing bolt holes and drilled the jack staff pipe by first installing one of the securing bolts to hold the gear steady, and drilling the other securing hole to a depth of the socket, installing a securing bolt in that hole, then removing the other securing bolt, reinserting the pipe in that hole and then drilling the jack shaft to the depth of the socket, then reinstalling the last roller socket securing bolt and tightening both bolts to shaft to prevent gear from rotating on shaft. If an air compressor is available blow out both drilled holes to clear threads and drilled holes of drill debris.
After doing one of these door chain hoist, the next will take less time, the first will have made you an expert installer.

Product received is Made in Canada and of what looks and feels like identical quality to the older Made in USA version which retailed for over $200 in the past.
